Our story
Recipes carried, not invented.
Ìtàn means “story” in Yoruba. The kitchen is built around the ones our grandmothers told — with a pot in front of them.
We opened on Adeola Odeku in 2019 with eleven tables and one rule: if it would not be served at a family gathering, it does not leave our kitchen. The pepper base is blended fresh each morning. The stock is beef and smoked fish, simmered down for six hours. The jollof is finished over firewood because that is the only way to get the smoke into the rice.
Everything is cooked to order, which means a short wait and a plate that has not been sitting under a lamp. Come for lunch on a weekday and you will find the room full of people who work nearby; come on a Friday night and it is a different, louder place.
